Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Cerritos, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Cerritos is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Cerritos is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

meats designed for a bed of rice; the adobo pork was a fatty flavour-bomb that melted into its rather oily sauce, certainly salty too but its the kind meant to compliment rice. the beef kaldereta? went a wee too heavy into the salts and oil though; felt very much like a local cafeteria for hearty-fatty meals.

Tried Pinoy Pinay Filipino Fast Food after almost two months away from the Philippines, and honestly, when you’ve been away that long, any Filipino food already hits differently. Don’t get the photos wrong, though. Minutes after I took these on a Saturday afternoon, the place was packed, so clearly, it’s a go-to spot for a lot of people. It’s very much carinderia-style, straightforward, no-frills, you pick your dishes and go. Food-wise, the lechon kawali wasn’t as crispy as I was hoping it would be. The beef steak and adobo were just so-so, I’ve definitely had better back in the Philippines. But to be fair, it’s a bit unfair to compare Filipino food here in the US to what you get back home. Overall, not the absolute best, not the worst either, just okay. But when you’re craving a taste of home, “just okay” still hits the spot.

Wanted some Filipino food, went here and was not disappointed. Just like my Nanay would make. Great selection, everything was ph-resh and tasty, service was friendly and fast, clean dining area with plenty of seating. Would definitely come back when working in the area again!

Welcoming, warm smiles from the staff. Wide array of delicious food on the counter, just choose a combo of your favorite dishes. There’s free water, just grab a disposable cup and fill your own drink. I just noticed that when the water container needs to be refilled, the lady used a plastic bucket which didn’t look so clean. Asked for a fresh lumpia take out, but upon eating it at dinner, it was bad.

After some time visiting our go to Filipino restaurant in Lomita and after they changed location, raising prices, and deciding to go full blown commercial, decided to take a drive to Cerritos and pay 'Pinoy Pinay' a visit and give them a try. Me and my family came with a healthy appetite for Filipino home cooking. Being our first time not really knowing the outcome observed the many people visiting this spot. The smells and displays of their food was quite tantalizing. They have a large variety of dishes to choose from and our favorite is curry chicken, chicken/pork Adobo, pork menudo, pancit, lumpia, and I love binagoongan (which to my disappointment they didn't have today). My wife and daughter got their special combo with Curry chicken, grilled pork skewers which came with 3 scoops of rice. One bag of Lumpia and sweet dipping sauce. I got their special combo with Filipino menudo, pork Adobo, and the 3 scoops of rice. One of the servers behind the hot cases asked if I wanted their free bowls of homemade soup (being that I love soup) "Yes please" she also asked if my wife wanted one as well for she was ready to pay without getting any. She turned it down knowing she wouldn't fi
